blindspot (WIP Horror Project)

This project is currently a proof of concept that I intend to develop over time. The basic idea is that the player is in control of a character who has poor eyesight and is being stalked by a creature. The player is able to put on a pair of glasses in order to restore their vision however, if they are looking at the creature through a lens, the creature is not visible.

With this in mind, the player must balance wearing their glasses to navigate the world with taking them off in order to figure out where the creature is. I’ve also designed a few other tools for the player to detect where the creature is without having to sacrifice their ability to see which comes in two forms:

  • The player can shine a laser pointer around them which can stop short on the creature even if it is not visible to the player. Using this can help you detect if the creature is getting closer to the player even while they have their glasses on as they can see the laser stopping on an invisible surface and getting closer to them.
  • When the creature gets closer to the player, they will start to hear whispering in their ears that steadily gets louder as it gets closer. This way, players can’t be totally surprised by the creature catching them but also adds plenty of tension as the creature gets closer to the player and they have to sacrifice their eyesight to figure out where it is.

A assets in this project were made by myself while learning Blender. The two main assets I created were the creature and the house which needs to be textured and have interiors added. I have many other ideas that I’d like to add to this project along with a strong narrative that I’m looking build out further.
